PostSubject: Noble Phantasm Rules   Mon Mar 23, 2015 2:32 pm

Noble Phantasms are special tools used exclusively by Heroic Spirits. They are spells created by the holy grail to embody the legends of the heroes it summons. These spells are fuled by the collective imagination of the human race, through the tales and legends of the heroes shared throughout history.

They can be physical weapons, such as swords, lances, and bows, or support items, such as rings and crowns. They can also be abstract concepts, like unique abilities, unique means of attack, curses, and changes to the environment and its physical properties.

Theoretically there is no limit to what a noble phantasm can do, as long as it fits the spirit of the hero it belongs to. However staff members have every right to ask you to adjust your powers in order to fit with the standards of this forum.

Besides having the normal Rankings Noble Phantasms also have classifications.

Anti-Unit: Phantasms of this class are used to overcome a foe in single combat. They require little prana to keep active
Anti-Unit: (Self) Phantasms that effect the user rather than an opponent, usually buffs or shields
Anti-Army: Phantasms with a large field of effect, usually powerful enough to wipe out a large number of foes. Phantasms of this level can usually one be used once per war. If they are used more than that the spirit loses a permanent rank in mana with each use.
Anti-Fortress: About the same rank as an Anti-Army Noble Phantasm. Their field of effect is much smaller, but significantly stronger. Being able to break apart fortified stone and metal.
Anti-Planet: Yeah. Probably shouldn't be used... ever.

Like stats Noble Phantasms have 6 levels ranging from E to EX.

It should be noted that EX ranked Noble phantasms are incredibly rare, and will not be appearing often. They are almost completely game breaking and will remain limited.

EX: Once again phantasms at this level are game breaking, incredibly powerful abilities, that probably shouldn't be possible. Alexander the great to teleport foes into his personal dimension filled with his armies from a thousands of years ago. Gilgamesh can summon an limitless arsenal of noble phantasms, from his gates of Babylon.

A: The highest rank that most heroic spirits can reach. Phantasms of this level can usually destroy entire armies in a single blow. At the very highest ranks a Fortress can be turned to ash. The legendary Excalibur is considered to be one of the highest ranking A-Ranked Phantasms.

B: Abilities of this level are almost always Anti-Unit in rank, at the very least being able to take out dozens of foes. At their peak Phantasms of this level are able to blow away small armies. Achilles has a B-Ranked Shield that has a health ranking equal to the Earth.

C: At this level the noble phantasm is able to be projected from the user's body. Meaning it can take form as a weapon, or special attack. At this point Noble Phantasms can begin developing unique abilities. Phantasms of this level usually effect one person, or a small group, making them reach an Anti-Unit ranking, at their pinnacle.

D: Usually still unable to leave the user's body Noble Phantasms of this rank usually involve adding skills to their user. Multiple D rank phantasms can be used in collaboration for stronger effects.

E: The weakest of Noble Phantasms. Usually limited to short boosts in stats, or skills.

Range
EX: Ludicrous
A: 100M
B: 50M
C: 30M
D: 10M
E: Self

Build Up
Unless State otherwise if a Noble Phantasm is an A-Rank or above the user has to wait at least two turns of combat before unleashing it. Excalibur can be used as a sword from the start of the topic, but you can't blow away a city block on the first round.
